Speakers Mr. Joe Zhou

Mr. Zhou Jiaxing, qualified as a solicitor in the Chinese Mainland, England & Wales, and Hong Kong, has over 20 years of capital market legal and compliance experience. He joined China International Capital Corporation (CICC) in 2009 and was appointed as the Chief Compliance Officer and Global Head of Legal and Compliance of CICC in December 2021. Prior to CICC, Mr. Zhou served as a lawyer at Slaughter and May (Hong Kong Office) and then at White & Case (Hong Kong Office). Leveraging his extensive professional background and stringent approach to compliance and risk management, Mr. Zhou has been instrumental in mitigating risks for the company, ensuring its stability and growth.  

  

Mr. Zhou is actively engaged in domestic and international financial and legal sectors, with a focus on advancing the securities industry. He currently holds positions as Vice Chairman of the Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA), Member of the Asia Committee of the International Capital Market Association (ICMA), and Member of the Professional Committee on Rule of Law and Investor Protection of the China Capital Markets Academy (CCMS).  

  

His professional excellence has garnered top-tier industry honors, including the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award for In-House Counsel from China Business Law Journal (CBLJ), inclusion in The Legal 500’s 2024 Hong Kong In-House Powerlist, the 2025 Asia-Pacific Market Maker of the Year from International Financial Law Review (IFLR), and recognition as one of Asian Legal Business (ALB)’s 2025 China Top 15 Chief Compliance Officers.  

 

Beyond his industry leadership roles, he also serves as an arbitrator at multiple institutions, including the AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Center and the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA). With years of practical arbitration experience, he has demonstrated outstanding professional competence and judgment in cross-jurisdictional dispute resolution cases.
