In an era of increasing investor-state disputes, both governments and foreign investors in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) region face significant risks and costs. This panel will provide practical, forward-thinking strategies for mitigating these risks by focusing on dispute prevention and mitigation, rather than reactive litigation.

This session will offer a dual perspective, addressing the unique challenges and opportunities for both States and investors. It will highlight the direct relevance of the recently adopted UNCITRAL Toolkit on Dispute Prevention and Mitigation in ISDS to the OIC region. The toolkit, developed as part of UNCITRAL's ISDS reform efforts, provides a non-prescriptive guide for states to identify and implement measures to address grievances before they escalate into formal disputes.

Attendees will leave with concrete, actionable insights on how to transform a reactive approach to disputes into a proactive one, ensuring a more predictable and secure environment for investment and economic development in the OIC region.
