Meg Kinnear is a leading expert in investor-state, international trade, and commercial disputes, with more than 40 years of experience in high-stakes international arbitration and litigation. She led Canada’s Trade Law Bureau from 1999 to 2009 and served as Secretary General of ICSID from 2009 to 2024, where she oversaw significant increases in membership, caseload, staffing and diversity in arbitrator appointments. She also led the project resulting in the amended 2022 ICSID Rules. In July 2024, Meg co-founded Low & Kinnear Dispute Resolution with Lucinda Low, where she focuses her practice acting as a dispute neutral in international adjudication before ad hoc and institutional bodies. Meg acts as a Chair, party appointee, or sole arbitrator in these cases, and has been an arbitrator or panelist under the ICSID, SCC, LCIA and USMCA rules. She is also a CEDR certified mediator and has acted in mediation between States and investors.
