Zahra Rose Khawaja is a senior associate in Dentons' Middle East Commercial Dispute Resolution team. She has eight years' experience (six of which in the Middle East) advising global and local clients on navigating and resolving their commercial disputes in the region.
Zahra is an experienced litigator, having handled cases in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts at both Court of First Instance and Court of Appeal levels. She recently successfully defended an appeal which sought to overturn findings of fraud in respect of a US$30 million judgment secured in favour of the State Bank of Mauritius. Zahra also acts alongside local advocates to advise clients in respect of proceedings in the onshore UAE courts and has significant experience in commercial agency disputes, contractual disputes, debt recovery and enforcement proceedings.
Zahra's international arbitration portfolio includes acting as counsel for both claimants and respondents in claims valued between US$1 million and US$800 million, conducted under the rules of many major arbitral institutions. She has also been appointed to act as arbitrator in a number of cases at the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC).
