Sanjay was called to the Bar in 2010 and was appointed King’s Counsel in 2024. He has a broad commercial practice and particular specialisms in construction and energy disputes, where he is ranked in both the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners legal directories.
Sanjay’s cases are typically heavy, high value arbitral hearings and common law Court hearings involving cross-examination of numerous factual and expert witnesses on points of technical and factual complexity. Sanjay’s practice has spanned topics as diverse as the causes of corrosion on oil pipelines, the technology behind energy-from-waste plants and disputes over the pricing of financial derivatives. Recently, Sanjay acted for the claimant in Energy Works (Hull) v MW High Tech where the English Technology and Construction Court made its largest ever award of damages.
Sanjay has practiced in the GCC throughout his career and for over five years has been ranked as a leading barrister for Middle Eastern construction disputes. To date, Sanjay has acted as Counsel in as many arbitrations governed by GCC Civil Codes as under English law.
