Professor Dr. Nayla Comair-Obeid, founding partner of Obeid & Partners, has led the firm’s dispute resolution practice since 1987. An Associate Member of 3VB Barristers in London and a member of both the Beirut and Paris Bars, she is recognized as a "grand dame of Middle East arbitration" and a "legendary lawyer" by leading legal publications.

With over 170 domestic and international arbitration cases, she has acted as arbitrator, chairperson, counsel, and expert across diverse disputes, including complex construction projects in the MENA region. Her expertise spans FIDIC contracts, Sharia law influences, and regional legal principles, earning her accolades such as Arbitrator Intelligence’s Presiding Arbitrator of the Year (2020).

Prof. Comair-Obeid has held key positions in global arbitration institutions, including Vice Chair of the ICC, member of its Executive Board, and a Governing Board member of ICCA. She also serves as a trustee for the Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration and is a Board Member of Harvard Kennedy School’s Women’s Leadership Board.

An accomplished academic, she teaches private law and international arbitration at Lebanese University, is a visiting professor at Panthéon-Assas Paris II, and lectures at the University of Oxford for the CIArb Diploma program. Her publications and lectures at top institutions further cement her as a leading authority in international arbitration.
