Dr. Mohamed Amara is general counsel at the Federal Geographic Information Center (FGIC) in Abu Dhabi, as well as the founding partner of Amara & Partners. In his GC role he provides professional legal advice to the FGIC’s board of directors and executive management in all legal areas. He advises on the development of legal and policy framework for geospatial
information and on issues that impact the collection, use, storage and distribution of geospatial data (GSI).

Mohamed is also qualified as indepent arbitrator, accredited commercial mediator and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). As such, he is registered with several arbitral institutions including ADCCAC, DIAC and SCCA.

Before joining FGIC, Mohamed worked as general counsel for the UAE Space Agency for seven years.
