Matthew Walker is a seasoned lawyer specializing in international arbitration, litigation, and dispute resolution, with a focus on construction law. He acts as arbitrator and counsel and has co-authored leading arbitration guides for Qatar, including LexisPSL, GAR Know How, and Practical Law. Recognized as a Thought Leader for construction by Who's Who Legal, he received Lexology’s Client Choice Award for Arbitration & ADR in Qatar (2024) and is ranked Band 3 for Construction: International Arbitration (UK-wide) by Chambers & Partners (2025). The Legal 500 United Kingdom 2024 also lists him as a Recommended Lawyer for international arbitration and construction disputes.

Matthew has extensive experience as advocate and counsel in ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, ad hoc, and QICCA arbitrations across Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, and the UK. He has appeared before the Qatar International Court, Qatari state courts, the English High Court, and the Court of Appeal. As an arbitrator, he has served as President of the Tribunal, co-arbitrator, and sole arbitrator. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Chartered Institute of Building.

He also advises on non-contentious construction matters, particularly in the rail sector, with secondments to Qatar Rail, London Underground, and Crossrail. His expertise includes FIDIC, NEC, JCT, and bespoke contracts, offering strategic guidance on complex projects and risk management.
