ASHFAQ AHMAD KHAN
Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Ashfaq Ahmad Khan belongs to the Police Service of Pakistan. He completed his B.A., M.Sc. and M. Phil degrees in Economics with Distinction before joining the police service in 2000 through Pakistan’s most competitive examination called the Central Superior Services (CSS). Currently, he is Commandant of the country’s biggest police training academy. In over 25 years in policing, DIG Khan has served in various staff and command positions in multiple legal jurisdictions within the country engaging with over twenty-three ethnic groups. He has commanded the biggest commercial hubs namely Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur and Lahore, where he had over twenty-six thousand officers under his command.
DIG Khan is among the pioneers in the practice of alternate dispute resolution by law enforcement. Over the last two and a half decades, he has facilitated out-of-court resolution of commercial disputes involving foreign and local investors and businesses.
As chief of police in many major cities and commercial hubs, he has been instrumental
in devising mechanisms for resolving many commercial disputes through negotiation, mediation and reconstructive ADR. In 2000-2001, he was instrumental in establishing Public Conciliatory Committees (PCCs) in collaboration with local Chambers of Commerce. DIG Khan is holder of the President’s Police Medal (PPM) for distinguished performance in the police service of Pakistan.
